Poll finds 67 percent of Americans support Florida’s ‘Parental Rights in Education’ bill

Jillian Weidner

A new national poll has found that over 60% of U.S. citizens support Florida’s ‘Parental Rights in Education’ bill.

This survey was conducted March 12-13, 2022 by Lucid, a market research technology platform, on behalf of The Daily Wire. It has a margin of error of 5% with a confidence level of 95%.

The poll showed respondents the actual text from the legislation. Researchers then informed the respondents that Disney opposed the bill and asked if they thought the company took the right stance.

The poll asked, “Which of the following statements do you agree with the most, even if none of them is perfect?” The choice answers were: “Disney is wrong. This proposal would protect children from inappropriate topics that should be discussed by parents.” or “Disney is right. This proposal would be harmful to the LGBTQ community.”

Among Disney consumers, 61% said Disney was wrong and 39% said they were right. Among the political groups represented, 69% of Republicans, 62% of Democrats, and 57% of Independents, parents seemed to support the bill at a higher rate than the national average (68%).

The poll also confirms that many people misunderstood the bill, which critics have labelled as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

39% of Americans thought the legislation said the word, “gay,” in it, along with 45% of Democrats. 22% of Americans and nearly a third of Democrats assumed the bill forces schools to “out” LGBTQ identifying students to their families.

The national poll of U.S. adults was conducted over the weekend. The survey had a sample size of 1,000 people. Thirty-seven percent were Democrats, 32% Republican, and 31% Independent.

Additionally, the poll showed a +4 point advantage for President Joe Biden (D) in the 2020 ballot among the respondents who said they voted in the election.
